Alexandre Dumas

Alexandre Dumas was a French writer born in 1802 in Picardy, France. In 1822, Dumas began his literary career and started writing plays, which were well-received and successfully produced. In the 1840s he founded the Théâtre Historique in Paris which stood till 1863. A lot of his popular historical adventure novels, such as The Three Musketeers, The Count of Monte Cristo and Twenty Years After, started off as periodic serials. He is one of the most widely read French authors and his works have been translated into several languages.
