Eleanor Emily Hodgman Porter was an American novelist most known for her novels Pollyanna (1913) and Just David (1916). She was born on December 19, 1868. Porter wrote books mostly for children. She wrote adventure stories, and romance fiction. Her most famous novel is Pollyanna (1913), followed by the sequel, Pollyanna Grows Up (1915). It was ranked in the top ten best-selling books in the United States for three years in a row. Her other novels, Just David, ranked third in 1916; The Road to Understanding ranked fourth in 1917; and Oh Money! Money! ranked fifth in 1918.
