Mary Shelley

Mary Shelley was a renowned English novelist, short story writer, dramatist, essayist, and travel writer. Her best gothic novel Frankenstein (1818) got her global recognition. She also promoted and edited the works of her husband, the great romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was born on August 30, 1797, in London, England to the political writer William Godwin and feminist writer Mary Wollstonecraft. Initially, critics raised questions about the gruesome elements present in Frankenstein. Nevertheless, the novel gained literary acclaim for its imaginative and descriptive elements.
